After securing a $3.6 million seed funding round , Curvance, a decentralized finance (defi) platform, has surfaced from stealth mode. On Nov. 16, a16z shared the release of its annual State of Crypto Report, which considers the impact of blockchains for policymakers considering the future of emerging technology in the United States. In the report , the venture capital firm emphasizes that good regulation should protect consumers and provide compliance pathways, while showcasing continuous growth for the digital asset class. Regulation remains front and center Highlighting the value of these crypto currencies, the report  calls out Blockchain analytics firms estimate that it is less than 2% of total crypto activity that is being tied to illicit transactions, and in 2022, it only accounted for between 0.10-0.24% of all crypto activity. Q4 2022 saw investment capital inflows of $2.3 billion, continuing the trend since April sparked by the collapse of Terra and subsequent fallout. November saw a reduction in BTC mining revenue for publicly traded miners, a decline in venture capital investment, and signals of Bitcoin going to $12,000. The crypto market s have been in decline since the start of the second quarter of 2022. Each time it seemed like the apparent crypto winter would experience a minor thaw, another notable collapse happened: Celsius, Three Arrows Capital, and more recently, FTX. Approaching the end of 2022, it appears that the same negative sentiments are likely to remain.
