The XRP price surged 8% in the last 24 hours to trade at $3.13 as of 02:15 a.m. EST on trading volume that skyrocketed 111% to $23.6 billion. This comes as the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) finally filed an appeal to reverse the court ruling that said XRP was not a security when sold to retail investors. However, according to Stuart Alderoty, Ripple’s Chief Legal Officer (CLO), “The SEC’s lawsuit is just noise.” Alderoty still stands by the idea that the appeal could be dropped by a future administration.
