CIS-4 Expected Gains From US Dollar Dip, Got Export Pressure

Image
The CIS-4-US dollar relationship is currently experiencing some rather unexpected challenges as regional economies navigate a complex web of economic crosscurrents. Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan are, at the time of writing, largely insulated from the direct impact of US trade tariffs but are definitely not immune to those pesky secondary effects. While domestic macro conditions are mostly in decent shape right now, key factors to watch include trade exposure to China and the EU, sensitivities to oil prices, and also rising inflationary pressures across the CIS-4 US dollar economic sphere. CHART: Wasn’t Trump supposed to be good for crypto?

Image
When President Donald Trump took office earlier this year, bitcoin (BTC) was at an all-time high, and the crypto industry was euphoric. Now, just over six weeks later, reality has set in. Plotting specific metrics on a graph shows an avalanche of downward trendlines toward recession. Protos has compiled a chart of major assets, indices, and metrics relevant to any investor since the day Trump became president for the second time, proving it would have been better to have bought the rumor and sold the news of Trump’s ostensibly pro-crypto administration. Niche sectors within crypto have performed particularly poorly but macro metrics like unemployment have also suffered. Since Inauguration Day, crypto’s combined market cap has declined $800 billion, while BTC has lost nearly one-third of its value, plummeting from an all-time high of just over $108,000 on January 20 to a little over $75,000 early on Monday . This is despite Trump promoting the currency multiple tim...

Will Donald Trump Lower Taxes in 2025?

Since his nomination as the 47th US President, Donald Trump has made several promises to US citizens, most notably to lower taxes. With these tax talks, Trump’s biggest resource for making that dream a reality has been through tariffs. The US President has explored tariffs on most of the United States’ major exporters, including Mexico and China. On the home front, Trump’s new Department of Government efficiency, is working to cut down on US spending, which includes thousands of jobs, to make way for tax cuts. According to a report by FactCheck.org, on average, taxpayers in every income group would get some tax relief, but not everyone. In all, about two-thirds to three-quarters of taxpayers would get a tax cut, according to independent analyses. Also, the cuts skew in favor of wealthy Americans, who would see more tax relief not only in the dollar amount but as a percentage of income, on average. But again, the wealthy wouldn’t be the only ones to benefit. Trump to Me...

Where’s the recession? These 3 economic indicators can alert investors to a market downturn

Image
Analysts have called for a U.S. recession all year, but stocks continue to creep higher. Here are three metrics investors can watch to know if an economic downturn is coming. Inflation came down a lot faster than most investor s and analysts anticipated, reaching 3% in June. The recession that most analysts predicted is nowhere to be seen, according to the 3.6% unemployment rate nearing a 50-year low and the S&P 500 Index showing a 19% gain year-to-date.
